GUE was founded by conservationists, explorers and educators with a desire to see the mystery of the underwater world explored, studied, protected and shared. Toward this goal all GUE educational programs combine comprehensive dive instruction, extensive task-oriented educational materials and detailed environmental literature. The Global Underwater Explorers educational program is structured to create the world's most experienced and proficient divers. To accomplish this goal GUE will select only the most dedicated and experienced individuals to conduct their training.
Our representatives are carefully chosen for their ability to enrich the organization and not for their capacity to generate revenue. GUE is committed to bringing together an array of professional talents solicited for their specific abilities in exploration, the sciences and conservation resulting in the most comprehensive educational materials available anywhere in the world. Additionally, GUE is dedicated to the global dissemination of information and our educational outreach programs provide valuable environmental information to schools, the media, and the general public.
In addition to our unique approach to diver education, Global Underwater Explorers is the first training organization to focus significant resources on scientific investigation. Specifically, our goal is to dramatically increase the quantity and quality of underwater research through sponsorship of original research initiatives and the application of advanced diving techniques. Our membership includes a wide array of divers and scientists conducting research around the world; as an organization we will encourage and expand these efforts on all fronts.
GUE will also assist other organizations in their quest for developing active research projects by relating successful techniques and by developing a system of research funding and grant sponsorship. In addition to their personal role in exploration efforts, GUE representatives are in a unique position to share their experiences with a host of willing participants. By assisting other teams with the development of viable exploratory techniques and sharing in the distribution of available funds, GUE is prepared to drastically expand the nature of international exploration. Historically, exploration efforts have been conducted in relative obscurity. GUE hopes to remedy this situation by providing a globally recognized forum for the dissemination of exploratory information. This information will be distributed by conventional print media and the many evolving means made possible by electronic media.
